Do you love collecting seashells on your Alabama Gulf Coast beach vacation? Here are some helpful tips to help you find more treasures!

  1. Choose the right time: The best time to look for seashells is during low tide. This is when the water recedes and exposes more of the beach and ocean floor, making it easier to find seashells.
  2. Look in the right places: Seashells are often found in areas where there is a lot of wave action or where the water is shallow. Look for areas where the waves are breaking, such as near jetties, rocks, and reefs.
  3. Walk slowly and scan the ground: When you are looking for seashells, it’s important to walk slowly and scan the ground carefully. Keep your eyes peeled for any shapes or colors that stand out from the sand and rocks.
  4. Check the tide pools: Tide pools are great places to find seashells because they are often sheltered from the waves and currents. Look for tide pools that are exposed during low tide.
  5. Look for fresh shells: Fresh seashells will have a bright, shiny appearance and may still have a bit of sand or seaweed attached to them. This is a good indication that the shell has recently been washed up on the beach.
  6. Be respectful of the environment: When you are collecting seashells, be respectful of the environment and only take what you need. Avoid disturbing any live animals or plants that you may encounter.
