Boating is a favorite pastime on the Alabama Gulf Coast. If you’ve had a long day playing at the local islands, and you’re feeling hungry or thirsty, check out our top 12 restaurants you can get to by boat:

  1. Pirate’s Cove – Located in Josephine, Alabama, and (almost) world renowned for their bushwhackers and cheeseburgers, Pirate’s Cove is a must-stop location for any true water lover. Plan ahead – the voyage from Orange Beach takes about 30 minutes on a good day, and you’ll need to get there early to secure a prime spot during the summer season. This dive bar is very dog friendly, so if you’re allergic to Fido, or don’t want him begging you for your extra fries, this is not the spot for you.
  2. Flora Bama Yacht Club – Known as the “Bar Across the Street” from the world-famous Flora-Bama Lounge and Package, this stop is sure to provide lots of seafood, smiles, and music.  If you’re an oyster fan, the Bacon and BBQ Fire-Roasted Oysters are a must-try. Also give the Firecracker Calamari a try if you’re looking for some sweet heat.
  3. Tacky Jacks – This waterfront restaurant is a long-standing tradition of the Alabama Gulf Coast. With locations in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and Fort Morgan, you’re sure to find one that’s convenient to you on your boat day. Try the Mexican Garbage and thank us later.
  4. Sunset Grille – just across the Florida line, Sunset Grille at Holiday Harbor is a good choice to quiet your rumbling stomach. For food recommendations, the marinated crab claws and Grouper Reuben can’t be beat.
  5. Lulu’s  –  If you’re craving a “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” with a very family-friendly beach casual atmosphere, then Lulu’s is the spot for you. Lulu’s is owned by Lucy Buffett, sister of the world-famous singer, Jimmy Buffett. The restaurant provides more than just food – it is a true family experience with an arcade, rope’s course, gift shop, and more! If your kids are tired of boating, take them here for an afternoon of entertainment
  6. Cobalt – Nestled under the Perdido Pass Bridge, this is your go-to spot for spectacular evening sunsets and higher-end coastal cuisine. Our personal menu favorites are the Tuna and Avocado Stack and the Creole Casino.
  7. Pleasure Island Tiki Bar at Sportsman Marina – a local’s favorite watering hole for live music and a sunset view. Try the bushwacker!
  8. Avenue Pub – This beachside pub offers original take on pub classics alongside craft beers and fresh cocktails. Try the Salty Dog cocktail and Muchacho Shrimp for an appetizer.
  9. Playa – Touted as casual and coastal chic, Playa is a must try for the atmosphere, fried oysters, margaritas, and Instagram-worthy backdrops.
  10. Fisher’s Upstairs and Fisher’s Dockside – Located at Orange Beach Marina, you’ll want to try both establishments at some point. Fisher’s Upstairs is an upscale, white-linen tablecloth while Fisher’s Dockside is more casual and laid back.
  11. Fresh off the Boat Located at SanRoc Cay Marina, Fresh Off the Boat offers waterfront dining and live music. If you’ve had a lucky day on the Gulf, bring your fresh catch in and they will cook it up family style!
  12. OSO – Located at Bear Point Habor, OSO offers family-friendly dining and amazing waterfront views. Try the local favorites from the menu – the OSO Hatch Chili Burger, Crawfish Etouffee, or a Blackened Fish Burrito.
